Material Handler – General Labor – Roofing
Job Title/Position: First Shift – Material Handler – Roofing
Pay: $18.00 per hour based on experience
Hours: 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday- Friday
Job Overview:
A roofing material handler plays a key role in the safe loading, unloading, and transportation of roofing materials to and from various job sites. This position demands physical strength and balance, as well as the ability to work at heights.
Job Description/Responsibilities:
- Loading and Unloading: Handling roofing materials like shingles, tiles, and other supplies, ensuring they are properly loaded onto delivery vehicles and unloaded at job sites.
- Rooftop Delivery: Physically working on rooftops to unload materials, often using equipment to assist in the process.
- Ground Deliveries: Assisting with ground-level deliveries when rooftop placement is not feasible.
- Safety Compliance: Adhering to strict safety protocols, including using safety harnesses, proper lifting techniques, and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Order Verification: Double-checking the accuracy of material orders before and after loading to ensure correct delivery.
- Warehouse Support: Assisting with warehouse duties when not involved in deliveries.
Job Qualifications/Requirements:
- Physical Fitness: Capability to lift heavy materials (generally between 75-100 lbs) and handle physically demanding tasks throughout the day.
- Comfort with Heights: Experience with rooftop work or a readiness to learn and adapt to working at elevated positions.
- Safety Awareness: Strong dedication to safety protocols, along with the ability to recognize and address potential hazards.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with drivers and fellow crew members.
- Attention to Detail: Careful verification of orders, securing materials, and following instructions accurately.
